Apple: A Late Night Palo Alto Line Update

It’s now a little after 11:30 p.m. here in Palo Alto, and time for an Apple (AAPL) iPhone 3G line waiting update.

Over the last hour or so, I visited four stores that will be selling the iPhone starting at 8 a.m. tomorrow:

At the AT&T store on Grant Road in Mountain View, there was not a soul in line as of 9:55 p.m. The place was deserted.

At the AT&T store at the corner of El Camino Real and Page Mill Road–a store that, by the way, just might have the most annoying parking lot on the face of the earth–some velvet ropes had appeared to help with crowd control. But as of 10:08 p.m., there was no crowd to control; no one was actually in the line.
