Kara Visits Mozilla HQ!

Before John Lilly got the CEO job at Mozilla Corporation, I had visited the HQ of the the open-source software nonprofit foundation and also a for-profit start-up–famous for its increasingly popular Firefox browser (logo pictured here) and red dragon logo–on Landings Drive in Mountain View.

I toured the place and took video note of a freakishly large sculpture made of soda cans and the biggest couch I have ever seen. In other words, just another typical Silicon Valley company.

Here’s an inside look at Mozilla HQ:

Great inside look at Mozilla HQ, although one suggestion: Kara, your “raw” style of filming is great, but a little dizzying. You may want to invest in a camera with a “steady shot” or “image stabilizer.” Yes, you’re a writer not a filmer, but if more and more videos are forthcoming, it would not be a bad idea. It’ll save me from ingesting some headache medicine before watching the next video.

    J:

I have actually done tons and tons of videos! Check them out in our video player. This is, for better or worse, my style.

I call it the Dramamine style of filmmaking.

The hackers and engineers of Y Combinator are doing what hackers and engineers do to any industry, they’re efficiently and ruthlessly disrupting the traditional model of venture capital and are going to destroy far more more wealth for their contemporaries than they create for themselves, as broadband did to entertainment, Craigslist did to newspapers, and Amazon did to traditional retailers.
