Sybase News: Not Bad

A humble headline, but with the kinds of disasters in forecast issued these days, it’s somewhat heartening to see that $2 billion (market cap) database vendor Sybase (SY) this morning posted sales and profit better than estimates, and also forecast the same for the current quarter in line with analysts’ expectations. Sybase said sales in the third quarter ending Sept. 30 rose 11 percent, year over year, to $284 million, comfortably ahead of the $275.8 million the Street was looking for. (And by the way, the Street, in this case, appears to be all of seven analysts–not bad, but not huge.)
