QOTD: My Crosoft?

Q: My Phone does rhyme with iPhone. Were you wary of doing that, or was that part of your plot?

Lees: No, no. My Phone is a feature. It’s not even a brand, it’s a feature. I didn’t even notice it before you said it.

Q: You didn’t notice the rhyme? Oh, come on. You guys didn’t have deep internal discussions about the fact that it rhymed with the main product of one of your main competitors?

Lees: No.”

More proof, if any were needed, that they are the most clueless empty suits to ever snooze around a conference table. Other than GE’s.

Well, I’m not sure that the “suits” at Microsoft are really so clueless. Even if they were aware of the rhyme, is the similarity necessarily a bad thing for Microsoft? I don’t think so. If anything it makes the iPhone name a bit more generic than it already is. I personally hate all of Apple’s i* names. They’re boring and uninspiried, not in keeping with the products that are not boring and are inspired.

No the “suits” at Microsoft are not clueless. But they do seem to go by the philosophy that if the public likes the taste of chicken, they won’t care if it is really chicken or spam made to taste like chicken.
