AT&T: For Those of You Just Joining Us, iPhone 3G S Available Tomorrow

“iPhone 3G S Available at AT&T Tomorrow.” That’s the title of the press release that just landed in my inbox–even as lines form outside Apple (AAPL) Stores in New York City and Tokyo (above). Never hurts to state the obvious, I suppose.

Below, something to tide you early adopters over until tomorrow: A video from AT&T (T) showing the device being prepped for the big day.

That’s a lot of expectation, considering the long lines. I don’t know how long they are here in Spain but it has been announced with a lot of success online. Unfortunately iPhones are monopolized by a single company called Telefónica which I am not very fond of. Does that happen with AT&T in the US? I heard about the tethering limitations over there. What’s the present status on that?

Excuse me? Lines form in Tokyo on June 18th? Today is 24 June in Tokyo and the phone is still not here in Japan. it comes out on June 26th here, and I suspect sales will not be that strong. Smart phones just dont appeal to people here (the first ones came out less than 2 years ago). We will never get tethering here, at any cost. This is the price we pay for being techies in a technologically stagnant country like Japan. Please give up your notions of Japan being way ahead. The networks here are very good, and thats it. The handsets and software are all extremely backward, character based and people have no interest in web connectivity while out and about. People all over the world have it much better than we do in terms of software and handset hardware. I would love to have AT&T as my carrier!

Values aren’t just for idealists — they matter. If a company’s practices make you uncomfortable, pay attention to your instincts and be true to them.
