Attention Iranian Protesters: Facebook, Google Translate Now Do Persian (Updated)
Given the buzz over the last few days about the role that Twitter has played as a communications platform for the Iranian protesters, it would be tempting to take a cynical view about the fact that Facebook today is announcing that it is launching a new version of the site…in Persian.
Nonetheless, I will play it straight, and simply say that anything that helps the protesters get out the story of what is going on over there is a good thing for everyone not named Ahmadinejad.
“Today we’re making the entire site available in a test version of Persian, so Persian speakers inside of Iran and around the world can begun using it in their native language,” Facebook said.
