  • NextWave (WAVE) today rose $1.02, or 242 percent–242 percent!–to $1.44, on volume of 26.5 million shares. Average volume: 768,000 shares. The stock actually started to run up earlier in the week. Three-day run: 324 percent.
  • FiberTower (FTWR) today rose 10 cents, or 17 percent, to 69 cents, on 5.6 million shares. Average volume: 887,000 shares. Three-day move: 53 percent.
  • Fairpoint Communications (FRP) today rose 15 cents, or 32.6 percent, to 61 cents, on 9.6 million shares. Average volume: 1.5 million shares, The stock is up another 21 cents, or 34 percent, after hours, for a total move today alone of 78 percent.

About Voices

This is a section of the AllThingsD Web site featuring posts that have been curated from around the Web: pieces we’ve read, discussions we’ve followed, stuff we like. Five posts are included here each weekday, but only the headline and the first two sentences. We link to the original site for the rest. The section is explicitly labeled, so it’s clear that content comes “from other Web sites.”
