The Washington Way: They Pull a Snowball, You Pull a Gun

“Don’t bring a gun to a snowball fight.” Indeed. But perhaps “Don’t pull a gun at a snowball fight when everyone there is tweeting it or taping it for their Facebook page.”

Making the rounds on YouTube over the weekend and into Monday are video clips of a massive snowball fight at 14th & U Streets in Northwest Washington, a fight planned and promoted on Twitter that took a strange turn. Things get a little dicey when a man, identified as a plainclothes police officer, takes out his gun after his Hummer was pegged with snowballs at a stoplight. Within moments, video cameras are recording the scene from every angle.
