Facebook’s Holiday Gift Sends a Message: This Is a Grown-Up Company
How can you tell when a buzzy start-up has reached grown-up stage?
Numbers help to tell the story, obviously. And the fact that Facebook now claims a staggering 350 million users–more than double a year ago–makes a pretty good claim for adult status. So are investments at $10 billion valuations.
But there are other markers, too. Like the kinds of gifts a company doles out to prized clients. Check out the time, money and effort Facebook put into these limited-edition posters it handed out to top advertising partners this year.
The network produced just 4,000 of these embossed foil babies, each of which contained a wooden token allowing recipients to make contributions to DonorsChoose. (Note that Facebook’s communications team sent digital versions of the same token to hacks like me–mine was worth $25.)
Thanks to All Facebook for spotting.
