Accessory Makers Queue Up for iPad

Although Apple’s (AAPL) new tablet won’t be available for at least another two months, vendors are already racing to stoke demand for iPad accessories.

New York-based iLuv Creative Technology unveiled on Thursday a new line of iPad products, including hard and soft carrying cases and screen protectors. It’s also selling water-resistant sleeves that have two front cover pockets for accessories and a secure lip to keep the iPad protected while on the move. The products, which will be available next month, each cost $20 to $40.

Also Thursday, Belkin introduced three 10-inch sleeves designed with reinforced panels to protect the iPad’s touch screen from scratches. Its products will be available in the spring, with prices comparable to iLuv’s cases.

About Voices

Along with original content and posts from across the Dow Jones network, this section of AllThingsD includes Must-Reads From Other Websites — pieces we’ve read, discussions we’ve followed, stuff we like. Six posts from external sites are included here each weekday, but we only run the headlines. We link to the original sites for the rest. These posts are explicitly labeled, so it’s clear that the content comes from other websites, and for clarity’s sake, all outside posts run against a pink background.

We also solicit original full-length posts and accept some unsolicited submissions.
