Apple’s iPad Sales: 450,000 and Counting…

At Apple’s (AAPL) event this morning to announce “the next generation of the most advanced mobile operating system in the world,” Steve Jobs took the stage promptly and fired off some impressive iPad numbers. As of today, the company has sold 450,000 iPads–300,000 on the first day. There have been 600,000 iBooks and 3.5 million iPad apps downloaded so far.

The App Store itself contains 185,000 apps, and to date, four billion have been downloaded.

There’ll be more on iPhone OS 4 and the App Store overall, but this isn’t a bad start.
