I get Ballmer's points but cutting Ozzie off like that was not cool. Ozzie probably wasn't doing the corporate thing by validating the competitor's model. As he started to explain his understanding of it, he justified the logic – whether he thought it was a valid competitor or not is another matter.

Ballmer on the other hand wanted to create the impression that having pushing OS strategies in 2 directions was an anathema to him… and his explanation of how MS doesn't do this because there is (an illusion of) continuity through Silverlight was just so wrong… how pushing development on Windows, WindowsPhone, Embedded, etc doesn't exemplify even greater the issue raised is mind boggling!!

Someone @ Google give Ozzie a job!
