Palm: New Devices, webOS Upgrade in the Works

Aside from reports of high-profile employee defections and shareholder lawsuits, we haven’t heard much news out of Palm (PALM) since the announcement of its acquisition by Hewlett-Packard (HPQ). Expect that to change in the months ahead.

Asked about the company’s near-term product road map at a developer event Thursday, Palm’s Josh Marinacci had this to say: “I’m not allowed to talk about future road maps, especially because we’re in the process of being acquired by HP. But yes we have a road map. We are working on future devices. And a new version of the OS. So I think you’re going to find the next year very exciting.”

That’s good to hear, particularly after HP CEO Mark Hurd’s claimed that the company “didn’t buy Palm to be in the smartphone business.”
