Steve Specifically Asked for Snowfall White and They Came Back Navajo White

What happened to the white iPhone 4? Why wasn’t it available for pre-order and why won’t it be on Apple store shelves tomorrow?

Evidently, the device has proven a bit more difficult to manufacture than its black counterpart. So much so that Apple (AAPL) has officially delayed release of the white iPhone 4 model until the second half of July. The company’s statement on the issue:

CUPERTINO, Calif., June 23 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ — White models of Apple’s new iPhone® 4 have proven more challenging to manufacture than expected, and as a result they will not be available until the second half of July. The availability of the more popular iPhone 4 black models is not affected.
