Groupon Moves Into TV Land, Does Deals With Top Chefs

Groupon.com, a website that offers local daily deals through group coupons, is teaming up with restaurants owned by Top Chef contestants from the show on the Bravo TV network.

From August 4 through August 8, Groupon subscribers will receive featured deals for the restaurants if users are based in the vicinity — Washington, D.C.; Miami, Fla.; Atlanta, Ga.; and Culver City and San Francisco, Calif.

The deals include an $86 dollar cooking class that would normally be offered for $172, and a $30 deal for $60 worth of food and drink. The Groupon deals will require an average of 250 people to sign up for the offer before it becomes valid. These will be the only featured deals of the day in each respective market, though some chefs have also sponsored a different “side deal,” viewable on the right side of the Groupon page.

About Voices

Along with original content and posts from across the Dow Jones network, this section of AllThingsD includes Must-Reads From Other Websites — pieces we’ve read, discussions we’ve followed, stuff we like. Six posts from external sites are included here each weekday, but we only run the headlines. We link to the original sites for the rest. These posts are explicitly labeled, so it’s clear that the content comes from other websites, and for clarity’s sake, all outside posts run against a pink background.

We also solicit original full-length posts and accept some unsolicited submissions.
