AMD: Did We Say Q3 Would Be Seasonally Up? We Meant the Exact Opposite

Well, this doesn’t bode well for the on-the-rebound PC industry. AMD (AMD) today cut its third-quarter sales forecast, saying the revenue that it had expected to be “up seasonally” from the second quarter will actually be down one to four percent. The reason: “weaker-than-expected demand, particularly in the consumer notebook market in Western Europe and North America.”

Sound familiar? Intel (INTC) said something similar last month when reducing its outlook for the third quarter.

Seems that the PC-industry momentum we’ve seen over the past year may not have been quite what we thought it was.
