Bazaarvoice Ramps Up For Social Shopping

In recent years, user-generated ratings and reviews have gone from a bonus feature to a must-have for e-commerce sites. That shift has brought dramatic growth for Bazaarvoice, an Austin-based startup that sells reviews and other social software to sites. In the last year, the company nearly doubled its staff to 650, and now serves more than 950 clients in 36 countries.

Today, Bazaarvoice plans to announce it is appointing former DoubleClick CFO and CIO Stephen Collins to join as its CFO. The news follows on the heels of two other big executive appointments: CMO Erin Mulligan Nelson (formerly CMO of Dell (DELL)) and board member Tom Meredith (general partner of Meritage Capital).

Bazaarvoice arch-rival Power Reviews has been ramping up with new top executives, too, including recently luring WalMart.com (WMT) CMO Cathy Halligan to join its San Francisco team as CMO.

About Voices

Along with original content and posts from across the Dow Jones network, this section of AllThingsD includes Must-Reads From Other Web Sites — pieces we’ve read, discussions we’ve followed, stuff we like. Six posts from external sites are included here each weekday, but we only run the headlines. We link to the original sites for the rest. These posts are explicitly labeled, so it’s clear that the content comes from other Web sites, and for clarity’s sake, all outside posts run against a pink background.

We also solicit original full-length posts and accept some unsolicited submissions.
