IPad a Pre-Release Hit in South Korea

The iPad won’t arrive at market until November 30 in South Korea, but it’s already racking up some hefty sales. By end of last week, KT, Apple’s iPhone carrier partner in the country, had sold some 60,000 iPads and it only began accepting pre-orders on Wednesday. Impressive, particularly considering first week sales of Samsung’s Galaxy Tab, which went on sale at SK Telecom Nov. 13 topped out at about 25,000 units

Funny to think that just 7 months ago, the South Koreans couldn’t even bring an iPad into the country for personal use because of a government ban on the device.

I think the NSA has a job to do and we need the NSA. But as (physicist) Robert Oppenheimer said, “When you see something that is technically sweet, you go ahead and do it and argue about what to do about it only after you’ve had your technical success. That is the way it was with the atomic bomb.”
