Viral Video: The Whole Fuddy-Duddy "60 Minutes" Zuckerberg Interview

Here is the whole CBS interview on “60 Minutes” of Mark Zuckerberg, which aired last night.

The quick poll of the piece on Twitter and in the blogosphere: The Facebook co-founder and CEO did great and his Harvard University nemisii, the Winklevoss twins, looked goony and graspy (even though Zuck did sandbag them).

And, yes, BoomTown said the Winklevii got enough dough for their role in social networking history and the “toddler CEO” turned out to be a prodigy. Also, that veteran television correspondent Lesley Stahl is a “fuddy-duddy” (she asked and I keed!).

But see for yourself, in two parts:

zuckerberg was just lucky that friendster’s (the true inventor of social networking) and his copy of them succeeded. very much luck. that and network effects is what made facebook not brilliance. facebook was created with just 2 weeks of coding. it is a front end on an SQL database. i believe the winklevoss more than i will ever trust zuck.

Good interview, and we’re all a little fuddy-duddy sometimes. Glasses work (better than the green pants).

Still, the whole thing feels awkward: the 23-yr old CEO, privacy issues, multi B valuation + the sweat (albeit less) – wide-eyed stares. Reality is stranger than fiction. And maybe just as entertaining as The Social Network.

You know– I just finished the Social Network, and I was looking for actual interviews, and what this interview feels like is old people not understanding young people’s technology.

People want to see conspiracy theories or whatever, and there are real risks, but from what information I have had and read and saw (the articles about facebook NOT giving up information without subpoenas etc etc) , it seems like we have turned into such a fear based society. We have been worried about big brother, and people think it might be facebook? Then don’t get an account! People are voluntarily putting out their information for the world to see. They want to be seen! Do I have a facebook account? YES! Do I put my full legal name up ? NO! Do I put photos I wouldn’t feel comfortable having on a billboard up there? No. I don’t think this is rocket science, that’s why ther is a user agreement.

I understand that there is a concern of privacy rights, but you don’t see people going to live journal and being concerned about the very revealing information being put up there. Facebook is just big, and it could have a lot of clout, I get it, but I think it is more that they have a target now.

Not impressed with either questioner, I mean this is about as ludicrous to me as questioning if the people writing and distributing linux are out to get you.

Anyways, it does come off as awkward and confusing.
