IDC Sees Lots More Apps in Our Future

Apple and Google better keep adding more home screens, because the number of app downloads is going to keep growing, according to market researcher IDC. Its study predicts the number of mobile apps being downloaded each year will rise from 10.9 billion in 2010 to 76.9 billion in 2014, meaning there will be an app for nearly everything.

“Mobile app developers will ‘appify’ just about every interaction you can think of in your physical and digital worlds,” IDC’s Scott Ellison said in the report.
