D: Dive Into Mobile: The Full Interview Video of Google Android's Andy Rubin
As promised, All Things Digital will be publishing the full videos of the interviews we did last week at our D: Dive Into Mobile conference in San Francisco.
The first extension of the event, it produced some very newsy sessions. We’ll be posting them all this week and next.
Here’s the first interview on opening night with Google Android head Andy Rubin (pictured here), conducted by Walt Mossberg and me.
It’s full of new stuff, such as the fact that Android is profitable (exactly how profitable, Rubin declined to say) and that he thought Google’s ubiquity strategy for its smartphone operating system was more akin to that of Linux than Microsoft in computers.
Rubin also commented on Google’s shift from its one-time lofty declaration to change the way mobile devices are sold to its obviously now-cozy relationship with wireless carriers.
And he complimented Apple and its iPhone, Android’s main rival.
As BoomTown said, much to see, including a look at the new Nexus S and a $10,000 Android-based Motorola demo tablet.
Here’s the video:
