Verizon iPhone to Be Available Around End of January

Apple Inc.’s iPhone will make its way to Verizon Wireless stores around the end of the month, a person familiar with the matter said.

The largest U.S. wireless carrier by subscribers will make the long-awaited announcement to carry the iPhone on Tuesday at an event in New York City, people familiar with the matter have said.

Apple has a track record of releasing phones between two and four weeks after it announces a new device. For example, the iPhone 4 was announced on June 7 this year and available in stores by June 24. The earlier versions of the phone, like the 3GS and the 3G, followed a similar pattern.

About Voices

Along with original content and posts from across the Dow Jones network, this section of AllThingsD includes Must-Reads From Other Websites — pieces we’ve read, discussions we’ve followed, stuff we like. Six posts from external sites are included here each weekday, but we only run the headlines. We link to the original sites for the rest. These posts are explicitly labeled, so it’s clear that the content comes from other websites, and for clarity’s sake, all outside posts run against a pink background.

We also solicit original full-length posts and accept some unsolicited submissions.
