Hipmunk Raises $4.2 Million From VCs, Online Travel Experts

New York-based Travel Web site Hipmunk has raised $4.2 million from Ignition Partners and a slew of former executives from the online travel industry. Others participating include Rich Barton and Erik Blachford, two former CEOs of Expedia; Jim Hornthal, founder of Preview Travel; Simon Breakwell, co-founder of TravelPost; and Rob Glaser, founder of RealNetworks. CEO Adam Goldstein said it would use the cash to hire more programmers to help take “the agony out of travel search.”
