Cisco's New Acquisition Builds IT App Stores in the Cloud

acquisitions_phag_thumbNow that it has identified the cloud as the next frontier in its network architecture play, Cisco is moving quickly to stake its claim there. To wit, the company’s proposed acquisition today of self-service information technology software outfit newScale.

(Judges for the VMworld 2010 Award applauded newScale for “[bringing] the iPhone experience to the enterprise.”) And that should dovetail nicely with Cisco’s own network-based cloud computing strategy, which involves enterprise customers building out their own private clouds.
