Viral Video: Funky Penguin CGI

Yesterday, BoomTown posted some pretty amazing CGI work for “Captain America,” which managed to make a buff dude look like a sliver of a man.

But this dancing penguin thing at the end of this movie trailer for the upcoming “Mr. Popper’s Penguins”–no, really, that’s the title and it stars, of course, Jim Carrey–really looks even better.

Then again, I am a sucker for penguins with funk.

Another trailer from a major motion picture studio that will be plastered on every TV screen and run in every theater preview being classified as a “viral video”?

A viral video is one with no clear affiliation or heavy media buy behind it that becomes a cultural phenomenon though word of mouth – people talking about it, Tweeting about it, posting it to Facebook and emailing it to their friends. A trailer than can be found on Apple Trailers and which will run before “Rio” in the local cineplex can not, BY DEFINITION, be a “viral video.”

That’s two in a row. Stop it.
