IPhone 5 to Launch at End of June? Bollocks.

A quick reality check for folks working themselves into a lather over reports that Apple plans to release the iPhone 5 during the fourth week of June. They’re as bogus as rumors of Apple buying Disney/Disney buying Apple.

And frankly, totally asinine.

Think for a moment. Apple, which has for years launched its products in the U.S. first, is going to debut the next iteration of an iconic device like the iPhone in Korea?

Not happening–regardless of what an “industry expert” tells some Korean news site. If Apple’s not unveiling the iPhone 5 at WWDC 2011, it’s certainly not going to turn around and launch it in another country a few weeks later.

Either Apple is having difficulty getting parts which I doubt or more likely they want to move the iPhone release to September which leads into the holiday buying season. A September release gives 8 weeks to ramp up to full production without waiting times in time for the xmas shopping season. iPad in spring, iPhone (and iPod) in autumn strikes me as a more manageable production-distribution schedule to manage, esp when iPad becomes a family of devices and not just *the* iPad.

Or they will release at WWDC with an international release by the fourth week of June?

Unfortunately as hard it is to believe, Apple will have issues obtaining part becuase of the disaster in Japan. GMA actually looked into and not only will the iPhone but the iPad will be affected by this as well. So I do not see the release happening on schedule and if so it would very limited.

Apple doesn’t play defense, and the iPhone 4 outsells all HTC phones by a very, very wide margin anyway.

The schedule says Mac OS and iOS previews in June. That’s all it says. There is no hardware release scheduled and Apple never schedules them.

Apple always has a backup supplier. No single source parts.

This Japan induced shortage was always conjecture and speculation and has been debunked recently. iPad 2 delivery has gone from 4-6 weeks last week to 2-3 weeks now.

I think going public today is almost like a Bataan death march. I think Wall Street — this will insult many people — but I think in many ways it bears a resemblance to organized crime. It is legal today what they do, but what they do is manifestly unfair.
