Viral Video: From the Mouths of Babes Oftime Come Insults of Rebecca Black

And I thought I was the only one who was incredibly irritated by the latest YouTube sensation, Rebecca Black, and her profoundly grating “Friday” music video.

Not so!

So are a bunch of kids interviewed by the Fine Brothers for their “Kids React to Viral Videos” series.

The young folks pretty much say it all:

is there no-one who will admit to liking her music if not how did it get soo popular ?

She’s 13. She can’t do any wrong in my book.

She did a hilarious video where she pretended to interpret the lyrics from “Friday” in a very serious way, including saying that they were about the guy that “You Oughta Know” was about … a song that was a hit BEFORE SHE WAS BORN.

There are a lot of people who wish they were as entertaining as she has been. I hope she enjoys every minute.

I’m sorry. But making fun of a 13 year old girl seems a bit petty. I’d expect this kind of behavior from Gizmodo, not from ATD.

Maybe the problem is that adults are trying to see Rebecca Black on their mirrors, Rebecca Black is a young girl, her music is not for us, this is a video for young girls and boys, I really like what she’s done, it may not be like Britney or Lady Gaga, but from a young teenager perspective it’s really interesting and I really hope Rebecca and other young teens reach its fortune with Youtube and other internet sources. Get use to it.

Kara, you’re seriously going to use your allthingsD platform to insult a young teenage girl? She’s been eviscerated for singing a harmless and cute song. She’s a little girl and you’re going to add to it? What is this gawker?

….Because it’s so atrociously bad that even people with no musical training know it’s pointless, vapid, and a waste of space and energy.

People, I don’t get why you’re so upset that “OMG! They are attacking a 13-year old girl.”

It’s not an attack on her personally. It’s an attack on the narcissistic, trust-fund wasting, spoiled, culture that this shows. A reality-soaked culture where someone who has almost no musical ability makes it big while REAL musicians who are 30x better than her in obscurity scratching for a living are ignored.

And really, don’t feel too bad for the girl. She had interviews and sang that song on plenty of talk shows and probably is making a good chunk of bank.
