AMD Tops Estimates

A modest gain in sales helped AMD report better-than-expected first-quarter results Thursday afternoon. The company posted earnings of $510 million, or eight cents a share, on revenue of $1.61 billion (excluding some costs). Analysts had expected AMD to post earnings of five cents a share, on revenue of $1.61 billion. Looking ahead to the second quarter, the company expects revenue to be “flat to slightly down sequentially.”
