Angry Birds for Windows Phone Pushed Out to Late June

Those waiting to get Angry Birds on their Windows Phone 7 device will have to wait a little longer.

The game, scheduled to arrive on Windows Phones this month, will now arrive June 29 and sell for $2.99, Microsoft said in a blog post on Wednesday.

To pass the time until then, Microsoft announced several other “must have games” arriving on Windows Phone in the coming weeks, including Doodle Jump and Plants vs. Zombies.

It’s not the first time that Windows Phone folks have thought they were getting their Angry Birds, only to have to wait. Back ahead of Windows Phone 7’s launch last year, Angry Birds was inadvertently listed on a roster of apps on their way to Windows Phone.

Rovio, the game’s maker, later told All Things D that it planned to release a version this year.

A Microsoft representative said the delay was necessary to ensure the Angry Birds were up to snuff: “The shift in timing of Angry Birds as the final title in the Must Have Games lineup ensures we provide the best possible gaming experience on Windows Phone.”

Just as the atom bomb was the weapon that was supposed to render war obsolete, the Internet seems like capitalism’s ultimate feat of self-destructive genius, an economic doomsday device rendering it impossible for anyone to ever make a profit off anything again. It’s especially hopeless for those whose work is easily digitized and accessed free of charge.
