Square’s Jack Dorsey Doesn’t See Google as a Pickpocket

Square CEO Jack Dorsey said that he’s not worried that Google’s Wallet will take money out of his pocket.

“This is a very large space,” Dorsey said, speaking on stage at D9. “What Google is doing is very interesting.”

Google’s payment plan validates what Square is doing, he said, but represents a different approach to the same problem. Dorsey said his company is focused on the payment methods people are using today and making that simpler for both payers and sellers.

“We need to change the way people pay for things,” said Dorsey, who also leads product efforts at Twitter, the other company he co-founded. “It’s really broken.”
