Want One of the First Google Chromebooks? Try Gilt Groupe.
I have a feeling there won’t be a mad rush on the first Google Chromebooks when they go on sale mid-month. But for those who can’t wait that long, Google is teaming with luxury seller Gilt Groupe to distribute some of the first machines.
“We were able to get our hands on some early Samsung Chromebooks before they go on sale June 15, so we wanted to find a way to make them available to our biggest Chrome enthusiasts,” a Google representative said in a statement. “We teamed with Gilt Groupe to provide early access to our eager applicants of the Chromebook pilot program last year.”
Google also promised Chromebooks to all attendees of its I/O developer conference, but no word on when those will be arriving. Samsung showed off its Chromebook at an event following last month’s conference.
