Video: Andrew Mason Was Grinning Inside of That Death Stare

When Groupon CEO Andrew Mason took the stage at D9 yesterday, he immediately told Kara Swisher he wanted to address the topic of his company going public. What he meant was, he wanted to preemptively avoid any substantive discussion of the IPO papers Groupon would file less than 24 hours later.

At any subsequent mention of the IPO or other sensitive matter, Mason offered Swisher a twitchy, expressionless face she dubbed a “death stare.” But if you look again, you can see a smile lurking underneath. See for yourself in our special death stare highlight reel:
