Room 77 Gets $10.5 Million to Help You Find a Better Hotel Room

Room 77, the search engine that lets you search hotels rooms by details like the type of bed and the view from the window (not, alas, by minibar contents), just closed an oversubscribed $10.5 million Series B round of financing led by General Catalyst Partners. The financing will go toward expanding the company’s core search technology and its global index of hotel rooms. Room 77 launched in beta in February.

If I just need a place to crash overnight I doubt I’d bother choosing a room, but for a longer stay room77 would be fantastic.

It seems like there is suddenly a wealth of hotel search engine growth and innovation. Room77 are going down the concierge route, and HotelSweep are going direct but using information extraction to cover hotels not available online.
