Creative Sweet: Adobe Beats Street

Investors expecting Adobe to turn in second-quarter earnings of 51 cents per share (excluding special items) based on analysts’ guidance received a welcome surprise today when the company reported earnings four cents per share better. Profit for the period was $229.4 million, up 54 percent from a year earlier. Revenue climbed 9 percent to $1.02 billion.

A strong showing for the company and one likely to continue as software sales continue to rise. For its current quarter, Adobe expects revenue of $1 billion to $1.05 billion — in line with Wall Street expectations.
