HP Looks to Pivot the webOS App Debate With New Online Magazine

Given that webOS isn’t going to rival the number of apps on Android or iOS any time soon, Hewlett-Packard is looking to change things up a bit.

The company announced on Wednesday that its forthcoming TouchPad tablet will feature a unique feature in its app catalog — an online magazine called Pivot.

“Pivot brings app discovery to a new level for customers and developers alike,” said Richard Kerris, the former Apple executive who heads HP’s webOS developer efforts. “We want our partners to experience webOS as the growing platform of opportunity, and we’re investing in new ways to help market their applications on our platform.”

The monthly publication will include articles, tips and other features, all with links to relevant Web OS apps that users can download.

Pivot will launch with the TouchPad, which hits stores July 1.
