Pinger Brings Free Text Message App to Europe
Pinger, maker of the popular Textfree app (which has more than 15 million users in the U.S.), has a plan for starting operations in Europe, where it’s hard to break into the mobile business in part because carriers pay each other for each call made or text sent. Starting in Germany in August, Pinger will “gamify” the experience by only letting users of its Android and iOS apps send texts when they have received an equal number, so the company doesn’t have to pay fees to other carriers.
