Samsung’s Galaxy S II Appears Ready to Finally Hit U.S.

Samsung’s Galaxy S II is already a big seller globally, but more than six months after it was unveiled, it remains unavailable in the U.S.

The long wait, however, appears to be nearly over. Samsung has sent out invitations to media for an Aug. 29 event in New York for what it bills as “a major product announcement.”

The invite doesn’t completely spell things out, but leaves little doubt as to what is on the agenda. The text is set against a field of stars — a galaxy if you will — along with the “II” logo that Samsung has used with the Galaxy S II.
