Oracle Settles Government Contract Complaint for $199 Million

Software giant Oracle has agreed to pay $199.5 million plus interest to settle a complaint by the U.S. General Services Administration. The case stemmed from a 1998 contract in which Oracle agreed to sell software licenses and technical support to government agencies. The GSA had alleged that Oracle failed to provide accurate and complete information on its sales practices and discounts offered to other customers. Oracle denied the charge but said it decided to settle given the age of the complaint and the costs of litigation.
