Four-Month-Old Google+ Has 40M Users
Google announced today as part of its quarterly earnings that the four-month-old social network Google+ has 40 million registered users, up from 10 million users two weeks after launch and slightly below recent outside estimates.
Google+ users have uploaded more than 3.4 billion photos to the service so far.
“People are flocking into Google+ at an incredible rate and we are just getting started!” Google CEO Larry Page exclaimed in a press release statement.
“It’s still incredibly early days,” Page added on a call with investors on Thursday, while complimenting the Google+ team for cranking out features. “Our goal is far bigger than the feature launches themselves.”
Page said he wants to provide an “automagical” experience across Google, by “baking identity and sharing into all of our products so we build a real relationship with our users.”
In other words, he added, “We shipped the +, and now we’re going to ship the Google part.”
