VMware Q3 Profit More Than Doubled on Wide Growth in Demand

VMware Inc.’s third-quarter earnings more than doubled on demand growth across its products, as the software maker continued to position itself as a provider of key technology for cloud computing.

The company projected fourth-quarter revenue of between $1.03 billion and $1.06 billion, largely higher than the consensus forecast for $1.03 billion from a survey of analysts by Thomson Reuters.

VMware commands a large portion of the market for virtualization software, which lets a single machine run multiple computers’ operations.
