Amazon Orders Another Million Kindle Fires
With demand for its forthcoming Kindle Fire tablet running higher than expected, Amazon has called on its manufacturing partners to raise their output yet again. It has added another million units to the four million it already had on order.
With five million Fires headed its way before the end of the year, Amazon hopes to meet increasing anticipated demand, which some analysts say may exceed the early demand for the first iPad.
A new survey conducted by ChangeWave and RBC Capital Markets found that 5 percent of the 2,600 respondents had either already preordered or were “very likely” to buy the Fire, exceeding the 4 percent who said in 2010 that they were very likely to buy the iPad.
