It’s Time to Make a Fool of Yourself Catching Popcorn With Your Mouth
If this one doesn’t make you giggle, you’re a Scrooge. A new Facebook app from Orville Redenbacher’s called Pop Cam enlists people to rescue virtual falling popcorn from the air with their mouths.
The twist is: Pop Cam uses a Webcam to identify where players’ mouths are. So in order to play, you’re actually wildly waving your fly trap around like an idiot. It’s great.
Yes, Pop Cam is an ad. It’s also a lightweight augmented reality experience that feels like playing Wii or Xbox Kinect. Pop Cam promises that it doesn’t capture video of people playing, but if I were the folks at Orville Redenbacher’s or Possible Labs I wouldn’t have enough willpower not to file away the tapes for later blackmail.
