Nokia’s Developer Newsletter More Forthcoming Than Execs, Promises Lumia 900 Set for March Debut
Nokia CEO Stephen Elop stuck to his script all week at the Consumer Electronics Show, saying only that the new Lumia 900 LTE-capable Windows Phone would ship in the coming months.
Apparently, not everyone got the message, though. Nokia’s developer newsletter site has an article on the new phone and states quite clearly that it will be available in March. Eventually the site will probably be changed, but as of Friday afternoon the date was still stated simply as a matter of fact.
“The Nokia Lumia 900 phone runs Microsoft Windows Phone 7.5. It is the biggest and fastest smartphone yet,” Nokia said on the site, as noted earlier by WMPowerUser and others. “And it will become available exclusively through AT&T in March.”
A Nokia representative said the newsletter was the result of a “misunderstanding” by its developer team and said nothing was final.
“In a nutshell, we are still working on finalizing the Nokia Lumia 900 together with AT&T,” the representative said. “As such, we do not know exactly what the availability date will be with certainty.”
