Tablet Sales Will Increase Fivefold Over Next Five Years

Worldwide tablet sales will quintuple over the next five years. This according to NPD DisplaySearch, which sees sales of tablets surging from 72.7 million in 2011 to 383.3 million in 2017. A remarkable spike, if it proves true — even more so because of what’s driving it: Emerging markets, which are expected to generate up to 46 percent of worldwide shipments by 2017.
