Scott McNealy’s Wayin Gets $14M for Second-Screen Apps

Social TV app Wayin, which asks users to “weigh in” on multiple-choice questions about live television and other topics, has raised $14 million in Series B funding led by U.S. Venture Partners, bringing it to a total of $20 million raised. Whether it’s tracking tweets or rewarding check-ins, lots of competitors are doing “second screen” stuff, but Wayin’s advantage, as it tries to get onto more platforms, is its founder and chairman Scott McNealy, the former Sun CEO, and other board members like Silicon Valley legal legend Larry Sonsini, Greg Jamison of the San Jose Sharks and Hollywood producer Burt Sugarman.
