Nokia Will Host Lumia Event in Beijing on March 28

Nokia has settled on a date to begin its big Windows Phone push into China: March 28.

On that day, the company will hold a special event to unveil its handset and carrier lineup for the world’s largest mobile market. Nokia CEO Stephen Elop is the planned speaker. “We are pleased to announce that Nokia will host a Lumia event in Beijing on March 28,” a Nokia spokesperson told AllThingsD. “Beyond the date, we have no additional details to provide.”

Among the devices expected to figure prominently in the company’s showcase: The low-end Lumia 610, and Nokia’s flagship Windows Phone handset, the Lumia 800. No word yet on a firm street date for the devices, though early April is looking likely.
