Attention iPad Shoppers: Try Walmart at Midnight

Apple’s retail stores will begin selling the company’s new iPad at 8 am tomorrow. But if there’s a Walmart in your area, you can buy one even earlier. Eight hours earlier, in fact. The retailer says that its 24-hour stores will begin selling the new iPad at 12:01 am local time. Odd that Apple would give a big-box retailer such a jump on rival stores, including its own, but it appears to have done just that. Supplies will, of course, be limited. And if you do snag one early, try to resist the urge to taunt the queues at any nearby Apple Stores.

It’s especially hopeless for those whose work is easily digitized and accessed free of charge.
