Scream Tones Make It Easier to Find a Missing Phone
Now, let me think. Where did I set down my phone?
“AWWWW-ROOOO.”
Oh, there it is.
Or at least that is the experience that some phone owners can look forward to, thanks to a new service from T-Mobile and Lookout Mobile Security. The carrier and software firm are teaming up to make it easier to find a missing phone and, at the same time, to really annoy anyone nearby.
The two companies are announcing on Tuesday their support for Scream Tones — a new feature that allows phone owners to force their Android device to make a loud sound to make it easier to locate.
Customers can choose from six tones — including a siren, wolf howl, train whistle and the T-Mobile jingle — to help home in on that elusive phone or tablet.
The new service is an expansion of an existing collaboration between the two companies. T-Mobile already includes Lookout’s software on many of its phones and tablets.
