Samsung to Announce Next Galaxy at London Event on May 3

Aiming to capitalize on its Olympic partnership, Samsung plans to launch the next version of its flagship Galaxy line of Android products at a May 3 event in London.

An invitation being sent to journalists offers few details on the product.

“Come and meet the next Galaxy,” reads the invite, which confirms the time and place of the launch.

Samsung has also been holding back a bit this year. Unlike in past years, Samsung didn’t have a big event at Mobile World Congress in February.

Instead, it said it would launch the successor to its Galaxy S II at an event later in the first half of the year.

Samsung marketing executive Younghee Lee had told AllThingsD in January that the company planned to use its Olympic partnership for a major product launch. Samsung is a global sponsor for the London games, as it was for the Vancouver Olympics.

The best and brightest are usually put to work on optimisation. … They will then go forward and solve the inefficiencies, and that’s where 99% of most energy is spent on.
