European competition regulators gave the green light Thursday to a plan by an investor group led by Sony Corp. to buy EMI Group Ltd.’s huge music-publishing division for $2.2 billion.
The European Commission’s approval marks a coup for Sony, which has averted a lengthy in-depth second probe. However, European Union authorities set several conditions, telling Sony it must divest several assets.
